Fundamentals

Week 1 is about understanding the pillars of SEO and how to apply that to your target market. At the end of the week, you’ll understand how to reach and convince your ideal customer with SEO and you’ll know your competitors’ SEO secrets.

Keyword research and prioritization

In week two, you’ll learn the nuts and bolts of keyword research. You’ll dive deeper into the exact keywords your competitors are using and you’ll learn how to prospect for terms they don’t know about. By the end of the week, you’ll know how to judge if keywords are obtainable and you’ll have a list of your first 30 keywords to target.

Building your content system

Content operations is this week’s topic. You’ll learn how to build and scale your content creation machine and you’ll get practical experience setting up and running a production flow. We’ll help you find your first writer and explain how to use AI writing tools without being penalized by Google.

Writing for SEO and your customers

In week four, you’ll learn the art of creating compelling content for humans and bots. Where to put your keywords and how to structure your on-page and off-page copy will all be covered, along with how to maximize for conversions. You’ll put what you’ve learned to the test by creating a brief for your first piece of content.

This week you’ll learn how to strengthen your domain so that your content can perform at its best. You’ll see behind the curtain how professional link-building is done using tactical outreach and digital PR. You’ll try your hand at outreach and earn your first high-value backlink.

Getting more mileage out of your SEO content is this week’s focus. You’ll learn how to repurpose your content for other search engines and platforms, along with the importance of modularity in content. By the end of the week, you’ll have turned your first piece of long-form content into a set of evergreen social media assets.

In this last week, you’ll learn how to monitor key SEO metrics so you can continue to improve and optimize your content. You’ll find out the finer points of using GA4 to monitor conversions and you’ll build a performance dashboard in Looker Studio.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for founders and early hires who will be working hands-on with SEO. During the course, you’ll set up your SEO marketing program and you’ll practice all the major facets hands-on.

What do I need to be able to participate?

To get the most out of this course, you’ll need your website up and running with a blog installed. You’ll also need a basic Ahrefs account for your keyword research. Each week, you’ll need 2 hours for guided learning and 4 hours for implementing and practicing what you’ve learned.

Do I need to have any SEO experience?

No, you don’t need any experience with SEO to follow this course — you’ll learn everything as you go. If you do have some SEO experience, this course is likely to dramatically improve your confidence and efficiency.

Are sessions online or in person?

All sessions are online via video calls. No material is pre-recorded. A group session will be held once a week at the best time for the group. Your weekly 1-on-1 sessions will be held at the time that suits you best.

How many seats are included in each ticket?

Each purchase includes two tickets for your startup so that you can learn as a team and support each other with your SEO growth.

Will I be mentored during the course?

Yes, during the course, you’ll be mentored by the Overthrow partners. They will work with you to implement each module’s content in a way that is meaningful and valuable for your startup.
